When sending a campaign, SAM will automatically filter out some contacts based on a set of rules. Thus, it is important to understand these rules and their impact, and to avoid changing the meaning of these authorizations (for example by means of changing labels on the ticketshop).

Authorizations

Each contact has a set of authorizations, separated in two blocks:

1) These are the authorized communication means. For example, if someone has Email = yes, then you can maybe send them an email. These communication means are used when you select the communication channel. For example, you can send an "Email" campaign only to contacts who have the "Email" communication mean set to yes.

2) These are the legal authorizations. The first one, "Accept communication from institution by email", is used to filter all Campaign Types except those related to a purchase.

The Email Communication Mean is Special

Whenever a contact chooses to "Accept communication from institution by email", and if this contact does not have a value set for the "Email" communication mean (for example because this setting is not displayed at all on the ticketshop), then SECUTIX will automatically set Email to yes (after some minutes). This is to simplify the user interaction in case you do not need to know about the other communication means.

Campaign Type

When creating a new campaign, you first need to chose the campaign type. See How to create a campaign for more details.

On the topic of filtering, you need to know that some of these types have a special behavior linked to them:

  • Information directly related to a contact's purchase or reservation: this campaign will be sent to contacts without checking for their authorizations. This should be used only for important information linked to a purchase, and never for marketing purpose.
  • Invitation: this campaign can generate single usage codes.

All the other types are just used as a classification of your campaign, but they have no special behavior. They are all filtering out the contacts who do not want your marketing communications.

Communication Channel

The communication channel "Email" needs the "Email" communication mean set to yes in the contact, see Authorizations.

Advantage does not need a communication channel, since nothing is sent (but an advantage can be linked to the contacts).

Rule for Filtering Out

For a normal (not related to a purchase) email campaign, contacts who do not have both the "Email" communication mean set to yes and the "Accept communication from institution by email" authorization set to yes will be filtered out of the campaign.

  • No labels
